Who am I?

My name is Robyn Berenato. I enjoy history, research and unlocking mysteries.

As it turns out, not only do I enjoy ancestral research, I'm good at it. I can interpret cursive handwriting and read maps, which is crucial to learning about previous time periods.

Before deciding to pursue my passion, I built a portfolio of clients from differing geographical locations and ethnic backgrounds to gain experience searching for different types of records. I have been able to trace records dating back to the early 1600s in both the United States and Europe.  In addition to online research, I make trips to the New Jersey State Archives and to numerous cemeteries in the Southern New Jersey area for physical, hands-on research.

My love of history comes from my father. He was an older parent and because of that, was able to give me first hand accounts of things that my classmates would only learn from books. I think it is also because of him that my mother says that I have "an old soul".

My mother was born in Puerto Rico, and my father was African-American. I became interested in our family history at a young age because I never thought I resembled any family members. I was curious about who else might be lingering in my ancestry to explain my green eyes and fair complexion. Years have gone by and as my age elevates, my reflection morphs into features that are also recognizable in my mother and paternal grandmother.

Let me know what I can do to help you discover in your yesterday.
